Cummins Vessel Reference #808

Vitawani Shipbuilding of Sibu, Sarawak in East Malaysia has, in recent years, delivered a wide range of workboats from anchor handling tugs to landing craft. Currently, they have a spec-built Multi-Purpose ASD Tug nearing completion.

The 29.95-meter ASD tug has a 9.8-meter beam and a molded depth of 3,6-meter design draft. Classed by NKK as 1+Hull, MACH, Fifi-1, for unrestricted navigation, the tug was designed by Kenton Marine of Singapore. The vessel’s versatility is enhanced by an open deck space aft of 50 sq. meters, accommodation for 10 crew members and a 16-day endurance.

A pair of Cummins KTA50-M2 main engine provides propulsion power, each engine is rated for 1600 HP at 1800 RPM. The engines turn into Schottel SRP1012 azimuthing drive units with 2100 m/m four-blade controllable pitch propellers in nozzles to give the tug an estimated 40-ton bollard pull.

The engine room includes three Cummins 6BT5.9D(M) powered 80eKw generator sets. A power take off from the main engine provides for FFS+1200 cu. meter Fi-Fi from two exterior monitors. The vessel has tankage for 5 cu. meters each of foam and Oil dispersant.

Winches, include a hydraulic anchor windlass/line handling winch forward and a hydraulic towing winch aft. There is also a pneumatic quick release 40-ton (rated) and 60 ton (proofed) disc type towing hook.
