Pelican Offshore Takes Delivery of Flex-36 Crew Boat

Pelican Offshore Services Pte Ltd (POS), established in 1997, operates a fleet of Fast Supply Intervention Vessels (FSIV) as well as anchor handling Tug/Supply Vessels in support of the offshore oil and gas industry mainly in Southeast Asia. Their fleet of FSIVs carry rig crews and light freight cargos. Working with their customers in the offshore industry Pelican Offshore’s sister company Penguin Shipyard International has developed their own designed Flex-36 high-speed aluminum vessels. The yard has been building high-speed offshore and commercial aluminum vessels since 1995. It has yards in Singapore and Batam Indonesia with a combined land area of more than 60,000 square meters.

Recently one of these vessels was delivered to the Pelican Offshore Services fleet, At 36 by 7.6-meters, the ABS-classed M/V Pelican Grand has 80-square meters of aft deck space with a capacity for 40-tons of cargo. With a crew of eight and passenger capacity of 70 rig workers, this design has proven an ideal size to meet industry requirements. With tankage for 25,000 liters of fresh water and 60,000 liters of fuel, the vessel also has fire-fighting capabilities of up to 600 cubic meters per hour.

The power package includes three Cummins KTA38-M2 diesels each delivering 1007 Kw at 1900 RPM provide main propulsion power to five-blades propellers with a one-meter diameter. A bow thruster is built in for added maneuverability. A pair of Cummins 6BT5.9 engines power 80 kW generators to meet the Pelican Grand’s electrical needs.
