Cummins Vessel Reference #671

The landing craft Sir Carlo.

The province of Surigao del Sur is located on the northeast corner of the Island of Mindano in the Philippines. The locally owned CTP Construction and Mining Corporation operates a nickel ore mine there and has recently taken delivery of a new landing craft. The 70.59 by 14.6-meter vessel was designed by naval architect Edward Cruz of Baseco, Tondo Metro Manila. Built by Sea Rudder Incorporated, also of Baseco, Tondo, the landing craft is named Sir Carlo.

Main engines of the landing craft are a pair of six-cylinder Cummins KTA19-M3 diesels each producing 600 hp at 1800 RPM. The engines turn 1727 m/m propellers through ZF W650 gears with 5:1 reduction. This gives the vessel, with its three-meter draft, a speed of ten knots.
