Cummins Celebrates Gold Standard Apprenticeship Accreditation

Against the backdrop of National Apprenticeship Week, global power technology leader Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is celebrating receiving the ‘Gold Standard Apprenticeship Kitemark’ for its Daventry site for the second year running, achieving Engineering Apprenticeships - Excellent Employer status.

Daventry is the home of Cummins’ U.K. Power Systems plant, with over 900 people employed at the site. The plant manufactures high horsepower engines from 38-78 litres, and generator sets that provide standby and prime power for a range of applications.

The accreditation is granted by Next Gen Makers, experts in manufacturing and engineering apprenticeship programmes, and Make UK, the voice of UK manufacturing, to companies that demonstrate a commitment to nurturing and developing apprentices and for those that continuously strive to achieve excellence within their apprenticeship schemes.

Apprenticeship Award

Jonathan Wood, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Cummins, said: “Receiving this accreditation is a proud moment for us at Cummins and reflects our upmost dedication to providing high quality apprenticeship programmes.”

Cummins has also been ranked 15th on this year’s ‘Rate My Apprenticeship’ list, a list created by the apprenticeship advertising platform Rate My Apprenticeship, using feedback provided by over 6,000 individuals to compile results.

Cummins is currently supporting over 200 apprentices across the UK, who are working in a variety of roles across the business, including but not exclusive to finance, HR and mechanical engineering. Additionally, Cummins has current and expected future openings for apprentices across its sites, including Daventry, Huddersfield and Darlington in 2024.
