Cummins redefines power density with the announcement of groundbreaking 17-liter engine generator set

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI). Expanding on the success of its acclaimed Centum™ Series generator sets, Cummins Power Generation has launched the latest product: a 17-liter engine platform generator set that produces up to 1 megawatt of power.
Embodying the company’s century-long legacy of engineering excellence and innovation, the S17 Centum genset was developed to produce a large power output within a compact footprint to meet the growing demands of power in urban environments where compact design and high-performance are critical.
The fully integrated, Cummins-built, designed and manufactured S17 has gone through more than 25,000 hours of testing and validation and is engineered to support a wide range of critical market segments, such as commercial properties, healthcare facilities, and water treatment plants.
“Cummins engineering is committed to designing sustainable power solutions for our customers. We continue the expansion of the Centum product line to deliver increased power in a smaller space, and with seamless site integration. The S17 is engineered to redefine what you expect from an emergency standby package”, says Emily Scheuerell, Cummins Power Generation Global Engineering Leader.
The new dual turbo S17 engine leverages cutting-edge proprietary design tools and proven methodologies to deliver up to 1000kW and supports HVO fuel flexibility offering unparalleled precision and compliance with emission standards. All backed by a market-leading three-year base warranty and the vast Cummins distribution network.
“We are delighted to add another product under the Centum Series product line umbrella. This industry-changing 17-liter engine is unique in its ability to deliver 1000kW to the market with superior power density from a smaller footprint. True to our brand promise, we continue to deliver uncompromising performance, helping our customers do more with less, reducing their total cost of ownership, while covering a broad spectrum of applications” says Dean Gough, Cummins Power Gen Americas Marketing Leader and S17 Program Owner.
Cummins manufactures and tests all key components of its power systems, enabling them to exert the highest levels of design and performance control. This results in a more reliable, integrated system than any other provider in the industry. This approach reduces system complexity and installation time while delivering maximum reliability.
