Partnering for progress on climate change
Accelera™ by Cummins, Daimler Truck, and PACCAR are launching a joint venture to produce lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries for electric commercial vehicles in the U.S. With a $2-3 billion investment, the venture aims to lower costs, improve safety, and reduce reliance on rare materials. This partnership will create U.S. jobs and support the transition to zero-emissions transportation, aligning with the Paris Climate Agreement.
Cummins’ Water Works program is addressing the global sanitation crisis by partnering with nonprofits to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in underserved communities. The company is collaborating with organizations like Water.org, Americares, and WaterAid to provide clean water and sanitation in India, Brazil, Colombia, Nigeria, and Zambia, impacting over 1.4 million lives.
Cummins supported Rio Tinto's announcement on October 29, 2024, that its Kennecott mine would fully transition its heavy machinery to renewable diesel, marking a significant step in reducing carbon emissions. After a successful seven-month trial using Cummins QSK78 engines and renewable diesel, Rio Tinto has committed to using this clean fuel across its entire fleet.
