TSUKUBA CITY, JAPAN – Established in March 1920, Tokyo Electric Industrial Co. Ltd, also known as Tokyo Denki, is one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of engine-driven generators and has long been committed to the designing and production of environmentally friendly emergency power products. Standby generator sets form the mainstay of its production line, ranging in the 15 to 1250kVA power spectrum.
With over 80 employees at its head office, Tokyo Denki holds an annual turnover of four billion Japanese Yen and sells its products within the hospitality, aviation and airport, banking, railway, and crushing and mining industries. Tokyo Denki also works with customers in lighting towers, movie studios and filming sites, as well as a host of commercial businesses.
Tokyo Denki recently established a new partnership with Cummins Power Generation through their Japanese distributor, Cummins Japan Limited (CJL). Tokyo Denki purchased Cummins Power Technology CoolPacs from CJL. These include 60 units of model 4BTA3.9G2 and 20 units of model 6BT5.9G2. Tokyo
Denki also purchased two 6BTA5.9G2 units to be built as prototype units. This purchase and partnership is widely noted as a solid breakthrough for Cummins Power Generation because it is one of the biggest sales of G-Drive CoolPac units to a single customer in terms of quantity to date.
Tokyo Denki identified several factors that were necessary in a partnership. Not only did the potential partner need to offer competitive options, they also needed to have a stellar and trustworthy reputation in the power industry. It was also important to establish an amiable and successful working relationship with the chosen partner.
After completing an exhaustive search, Tokyo Denki opted to partner with CJL because the Cummins G-Drive products were reasonably priced and fit their required budget. CJL also offered quality checks prior to delivery to ensure that the customer received the best products available.
Tokyo Denki plans to purchase more Cummins G-Drive products, foreseeing that the expected annual consumption for the 4BTA3.9G2, the 6BT5.9G2 and the 6BTA5.9G2 within the next two years is approximately 600 to 800 units per annum.
