Shon Wright is a Cummins Officer and President of the Cummins Distribution Business. He is an accomplished international business executive with a proven track record of success, bringing nearly thirty years of expertise in strategy, operations, sales and marketing. With a dynamic background spanning multiple business segments in the chemical, automotive and industrial manufacturing industries and notable achievements in executive roles, he offers valuable insights into strategic planning, international operations, supply chain management and risk management. His multinational industrial and expat expertise includes production and logistics management in South Africa, India, Brazil and Western Europe.
In his most recent role leading the integrated Cummins Components and Software organization, Shon demonstrated excellence in business strategy, growth and talent development. He managed a $2.5 billion global business that develops, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial vehicle and industrial turbochargers, fuel systems and valve train technologies. His duties included managing more than 8,000 employees at 17 complex engineering, manufacturing and warehouse sites in the US, Brazil, China, Europe, India and Mexico.
Under Shon's leadership, the turbo business saw significant expansion, including a $20 million refurbishment of its U.K. facilities; a $25 million expansion of operations in Charleston, SC; and a $15 million expansion in Wuxi, China. In 2022, he successfully managed the complex integration of Cummins' $325 million acquisition of Jacobs Vehicle Systems (JVS), creating new growth and technical opportunities. During this time, Shon drove a 60% growth in the global turbocharger business.
Shon’s deep commitment to his community and social justice led to the founding of the Cummins Advocating for Racial Equity (CARE) program in 2020. His leadership has helped drive more than $32 million in investments via loans, grants and private equity, creating exposure and opportunity for more than 700 Black-owned businesses.
Shon serves on the Board of Directors of Ingevity (NYSE: NGVT) a specialty chemical company, where he is a member of the audit and sustainability/safety committees. Shon was also inducted in 2022 as a member of the Executive Leadership Council. He serves on the Board of Directors of Wuxi Vane, a Cummins China-based joint venture (JV) that designs and manufactures turbine wheels. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Cummins Scania JV which designs and develops fuel systems. Formerly, he served on the Board of Directors for Nuss Truck, a business with over $350 million per year in sales; and he was previously a member of the Board of Trustees for the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Shon graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
