Oil and Gas Engines

Outwork. Outrun. Outperform.
In demanding oil and gas applications, dependability is everything. That’s where the superior uptime and productivity of the Tier 4 Final QSK50 make the difference. Its V16 configuration offers up to 2500 hp (1864 kW) – an excellent choice for tough fracing jobs.

Outwork.
The Cummins QSK50 for Tier 4 Final is built upon the reliable, dependable Tier 2 engine, with minimal base engine changes, giving the customer greater reliability and durability compared to other Tier 4 Final solutions.  Heat-rejection levels are similar to those of the Tier 2 engine as well, so there is no need to re-engineer the cooling package. Not only is the cooling package the same at Tier 2, but the Cummins QSK50 for Tier 4 Final drop-in design replaces the engine and muffler in your equipment, minimizing complexity and simplifying maintenance, and reduces noise on the job site.

Outrun.
The QSK50 for Tier 4 Final was built upon the proven Tier 2 platform, with some enhancements. Advanced combustion technology is applied to the QSK50, allowing the engine to run more efficiently. Coupled with the addition of improved crankcase breather, customers can expect an increase in 10% life to overhaul.

Outperform.
The Cummins SCR Exhaust Aftertreatment system allows the engine to run efficiently and generates low particulate, while increasing fuel efficiency over Tier 2. You can expect the same power and performance, in a cleaner, quieter package.

Features & Benefits

Base engine – Redesigned power cylinder, optimized turbomachinery and improved crankcase breather system provide low PM generation while maintaining durability and reliability. The QSK50 provides 1 million gallons of fuel to overhaul.

Fuel system – The more efficient Cummins modular common-rail fuel system features increased injection pressure and larger injector accumulator volume for reduced particulate emissions and improved fuel economy. The leakless injector features increased fueling precision and timing control, for reduced parasitic losses, reduced fuel heating and improved fuel economy, Cummins NanoNet™ filtration protects the fuel pump and injectors by capturing and retaining more harmful particles than traditional media for long life and reliability.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) – Cummins modular SCR design, featuring an integrated decomposition chamber and Cummins airless Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing system, is designed to last the life of the engine. Simple and durable, Cummins SCR catalyst provides additional PM reduction and low back pressure for enhanced fuel economy. Proven in many markets with billions of hours of reliable, robust operation around the world.

Fleetguard® Fuel Filters, Lube Filters and DEF from Cummins Filtration – Fleetguard filters protect against corrosion and contaminants that can cause performance issues. High quality DEF is widely available at authorized Cummins and Fleetguard locations, as well as in bulk delivery.

Cummins statement in regards to unapproved Tier 4 Dual Fuel Third-party Kits

Announcement - November 2020

  • Cummins does not approve or endorse any unauthorized dual fuel kits.
  • Engines manufactured by Cummins are shipped in the certified configuration as approved by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
  • The QSK50 Tier 4 engine (“Engine”) is not certified to run with an unauthorized dual fuel kit.
  • Operating the Engine with natural gas with an unauthorized dual fuel kit is very likely to damage the Engine and aftertreatment system. This damage could cause the Engine to become inoperable and failures attributed to the use of incorrect fuels will void warranty and extended coverage.
  • Cummins considers adding an unauthorized dual fuel kit to our Engines to be an unauthorized modification as it is very likely to affect Engine performance, integrity, durability and emissions. Such unauthorized modifications will void Engine warranty and extended coverage, as the Engine was neither sold nor released to work with an unauthorized dual fuel kit.
  • Components with failure attributed to an unauthorized dual fuel kit will be excluded from warranty and extended coverage, including but not limited to turbos, aftercoolers, shut-off valves, injectors, power cylinder, heads, block, crankshaft, and other.
  • Dual fuel kits are an extra system that changes the functioning of the Engine. They are not aftermarket replacement parts.
  • Cummins is unaware of the regulatory compliance status of unauthorized dual fuel kits and is not responsible for any non-compliance matters. The owner of the industrial equipment has responsibility to ensure compliance.
  • Cummins cannot answer technical questions related to unauthorized dual fuel kits and cannot comment on engine parts which may have been damaged as a result of its installation.
