High Mileage Club Member Jeff Doster Nears 500,000 Miles
By Cummins Inc., Global Power Technology Leader

The Cummins High Mileage Club for Turbo Diesel owners recognizes our customers for all the miles they have driven with their Cummins Turbo Diesels. This quarter, we recognize Jeff Doster from Hampstead, Md.
When Jeff bought his 1996 3500 RAM dually, it had been used and abused. The interior and exterior needed a lot of work, but the Cummins Turbo Diesel was running well. So Jeff fixed up the sheet metal and the interior and started driving the truck to and from his auto shop during the week and, along with his son, towing his dragster in a 24-foot trailer during the summer months.
That pickup truck rolled over 406,000 miles and is still going strong – something Jeff proudly lets everyone know: “I even have the 400,000-mile plate on my truck!”
Jeff credits regular oil changes and good maintenance for the longevity of his engine. “I change the oil every 5,000 miles and use Genuine Cummins Parts when I need to replace something,” he said. The proof is on the odometer – Jeff’s on his way to having a half-million-mile engine. Jeff drives his truck for business day in and day out, getting 18.2 mpg. When asked when he was planning to retire his truck, Jeff replied, “Not until the body falls off it.”
With a success story like Jeff’s, it’s no surprise to find out that when Jeff needed a second vehicle for his business, he bought another 1996 Dodge RAM Club Cab with a Cummins Turbo Diesel. And with only 300,000 miles, it’s in for a long road ahead.
