The Dual Redundant Integrated DMC8000 Simulator on show

At the Middle East Electricity (MEE) Exhibition, held from 6-8th of March in Dubai, Cummins showcased its skills in the Power System sector with the on-stand presence of a DMC8000 Simulator. Assisted by the UK-based Power Systems Marketing group, Resty M Esperanza and Medhat Mohamed of Cummins Africa Middle East laid on an impressive demonstration of simulation capabilities.

The MEE Exhibition attracts thousands of customers from around the region each year, serving as a high-profile regional forum for innovative technology. It regularly provides a market for new Cummins products, a forum for meeting key customers, and a means of establishing communication with visitors who may become customers in the future.

The DMC8000 Simulator is designed to demonstrate, with all types of generator set applications, how a Cummins Power System solution can easily integrate overall control of the power system with detailed control at a unit level. It simulates how a Master Control Panel with Dual Redundant Controller integrates with Local Control Systems for each generator set.

Cummins made a significant impact over the three days of the show. Most visitors to the Cummins stand already knew the company as a global player in the generator set and engine sectors. What many of them learnt through the DMC8000 Simulator was how well Cummins can customize a solution for a particular customer need. A case in point was one visitor to the stand who is integrating generator sets with solar power generation in a hybrid power generation project. The demonstration on the stand strongly convinced him of Cummins’ ability to handle the integration on his project through the appropriate interfaces.

For the purposes of the MEE Exhibition, the 400mm L x 205mm H x 100mm D Simulator was installed in an AC controlled environment. The deployment of the Simulator at the show, from assembly through to demonstrations of its functionalities, has been captured on a series of videos available online.
