Cummins Power Proves Reliable at Turk Telekom Headquarters
A dynamic uninterrupted power supply (DUPS) supported by Cummins generator sets was awarded for Turk Telekom’s headquarter building in Ankara, which also contains the largest cybersecurity centre in the country.
Turk Telekom is a leading telecommunication firm in its sector and the sole communication infrastructure supplier to other privately-owned companies in Turkey. Turk Telekom’s new headquarter building in Ankara also contains the largest cybersecurity centre in the country. Due to its strategic mission and the required reliability, a batteryless, or dynamic, uninterrupted power supply (DUPS) supported by Cummins generator sets was awarded.
DUPS system supplier and application company Makelsan has erected, installed and commissioned two power systems. Each one provides 1 MW output, which can hold the system live upon an energy cut for 18 seconds. In this model, the mission of Cummins and its authorized dealer Mepa Energy Systems Ltd. was to start, synchronize with DUPS and take the full load within this period. After the commissioning completed, the two Cummins C1675D5A generator sets proved this capability by being able to start, synchronize with each other and take the full load at about 6.5 seconds. Mepa also engineered, installed and commissioned the daily fuel tanks and automatic replenishing system; warm air out sound attenuators; synchronization with DUPS and data communication via BMS; the DUPS and generator set system power panels; and the exhaust systems and hanging system.
