How to check if you are eligible for Over-the-Air Software Updates
Do you remember when you used to have to connect your iPhone to your computer to update it via iTunes? Or when you used to have to take your car to the dealer and have the navigation system updated with a new DVD?
Taking additional steps and time to update the software on the devices you use daily was the opposite of convenience. Now, your iPhone updates while you sleep and most people get their navigation from Google Maps or Apple Maps, which is constantly updated with new data.
These advances in technology, which you probably don’t even notice, are made possible by over-the-air technology. Did you know you can take advantage of that same technology to wirelessly install critical updates to your Cummins-powered vehicles without ever plugging in or visiting a service location?
Over-the-Air (OTA) calibration updates allow you to calibrate and optimize engine control modules (ECM) while your Cummins-powered equipment is still on the road, using about five minutes of stationary downtime.
A calibration update approved in your preferred user portal is transmitted seamlessly through the cloud to your engine. The driver then receives an alert that a new ECM update is available and approves the installation.
How do you find out if you are eligible for OTA calibration updates?
OTA calibration updates are available for most on-highway Cummins engines that are connected via Acumen®, an OEM telematics device, or participating telematics service providers.
If you are a current Cummins Connected Solutions customer, you can log in to the portal and check here for available calibration updates.
If you are a new customer, you can register for Connected Solutions.
To find out if your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) offers OTA calibration updates for Cummins, please reach out to your Cummins representative or OEM and ask about Cummins OTA calibration updates.
What are the benefits of OTA calibration updates?
OTA updates allow you to ensure that your vehicle, or entire fleet, is running the latest Cummins software to ensure peak performance, reliability, and efficiency.
