Cummins latest product range, the Performance Series, brings the power to do more with less to equipment operators and manufacturers in the agriculture business. These newly designed products offer the agriculture market a second option for Tier 4 Final compliant Cummins power, with a new range of features and benefits available to deliver even more value to our customers.

From 100 to 675 hp (74-503 kW), these engines do more with less by offering higher power and torque, simpler architecture, improved fuel efficiency and lower operating costs. “Cummins is dedicated to partnering with OEMs to deliver the best possible power solution to meet their requirements,” said Annie Schmelzer, Global Agriculture Market Leader – Cummins Off-Highway Business. “This global product line offers a full range of products that deliver increased performance and productivity.”

4-cylinder engines, the F3.8 and B4.5, in the Performance Series offer significant gains in power and torque. The F3.8 top rating increases from 130 hp (97 kW) to 173 hp (129 kW), while the B4.5 top rating moves from 173 hp (129 kW) to 200 hp (149 kW). These engines also offer increases in peak torque of more than 20 percent to 600 Nm for the F3.8 and 11 percent to 780 Nm for the B4.5.

The B6.7 and L9, both 6-cylinder engines, also make gains in power output and torque. Top rated power for the B6.7 moves up to 326 hp (243 kW) with a peak torque increase of 30 percent to 1375 Nm. Similarly, the L9 moves from a 400 hp (298 kW) top rating to 430 hp (321 kW) with a 13 percent increase in peak torque to 1846 Nm. “Our Performance Series products deliver high power density that suits agricultural machines like sprayers and harvesters, while their power bulge and torque rise meet the demands of tractor operation,” said Schmelzer.

All of the 4- and 6-cylinder Performance Series products are Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)-free, thanks to Cummins latest Single Module™ aftertreatment technology. The Single Module aftertreatment is 50 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than systems that use Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) in conjunction with EGR.

Available beginning in 2019, the Performance Series engines will be certified to meet both U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emissions regulations, giving manufacturers the opportunity to share installation for domestic and export business. This global capability is further supported by a high sulfur fuel tolerance of up to 5,000 parts per million (ppm). And, the EGR-free engine design results in a more compact product that is lighter weight and easier to install resulting in reduced installation costs.
