Jamestown Engine Plant is hiring as it continues investing in the local community

Jamestown, New York

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is currently expanding its workforce, and is hiring for positions at its Jamestown Engine Plant (JEP). With 1,400 employees, JEP is the largest private employer in Chautauqua county.

While the trend for many Americans in the workforce is to go from one employer to the next, Cummins has built a culture that invests, nurtures and cultivates talent from within the company. In fact, JEP has over 160 employees celebrating more than 20 years of employment, with some celebrating 45 years.

“Manufacturing is exciting and challenging, and the industry offers many career opportunities for people with many different skill sets,” said Anna Dibble, Jamestown Engine Plant Manager. “I started as a summer hire, and nearly 30 years later I have held several positions in JEP that have led me to my current role as plant manager.”

As plant manager, Dibble is responsible for a facility that produces over 450 engines each day and safely continued production during the pandemic. In fact, JEP continued to invest in their operations by deploying new collaborative robots, new flywheel machining equipment and expanded camshaft machining operations. Additionally, $13 million in project investments were made in the plant last year. Currently, there are $77 million in active capital investments that include plant improvements, maintenance and new product development.

Several engines in the Cummins portfolio are assembled at JEP; to be specific, the Cummins M11, QSM11, X12, ISX12N, ISX15 and QSX15 engines are all manufactured at JEP.

Manufacturing careers are typically well paying, and Cummins is no exception; however, the benefits and values are what makes employees most proud to say they work at the company, especially Cummins’ commitment to the community. JEP annually contributes $1 million into the community through charitable giving, and all employees can take four hours of paid time to volunteer in the community. The company is committed to the environment and sustainability; JEP holds an annual recycle day, where JEP pays for the community’s recycling, and the engines built at the plant have reduced emissions by 98%.

Cummins has been engrained into the local community since JEP was established in 1974, and will continue to be one with the community in the future. Learn more about #LifeatCummins today.
