Form and Function in the Offshore

Cummins Vessel Reference #669

Bordelon Marine's new vessel design.

Last March I stopped in to see Wes Bordelon in his immaculate headquarters office in the tiny town of Lockport Louisiana. The single story building is new and designed to look good and, most importantly, to be functional and comfortable for those who work there. In Wes’ office we recalled the family history with boats and spoke of the series of Cummins-powered 150 and 163-foot mini supply boats built in 2001 and 2005.

Wes spoke with real excitement about the new series of QSK60-M Tier 3-powered boats that the family is adding to their fleet with the first delivery in early 2013. Bigger than the earlier vessels at 252-feet, the company is building three of the vessels at there own shipyard in Houma, Louisiana. As with the company office and the firm’s previous vessels, these new DP2 boats, designated Stingray, will provide for crew comfort, good looks and affordable options in the PSV and MPSV niche.

Wes showed me drawings with several different color schemes but wouldn’t let me take any of the information away. Bordelon would continue to give attention to the smallest detail and would only announce the new Cummins-powered vessels when their design had met the careful scrutiny of all concerned.

Wes promised to have the full description to me as soon as possible. A rendering, with an attractive color scheme, arrived the other day with a complete spec sheet and a good press release prepared by the company. I have attached all three here.
