Power catamaran growls with Cummins QSBs

Imbued with natural light through large side hull windows, the spacious cabin of the Aquila 54 yacht power catamaran is elegant and comfortable, providing social spaces with panoramic 360° views.

Offering three, four, and five cabin options as well as skipper’s quarters and galley-down layouts, this semi-custom production vessel meets an assortment of boating lifestyles. With a full-beam forward master and cabins with large island beds, this yacht was versatilely engineered as either an open flybridge with a solid glass front windscreen or with a fully enclosed flybridge.

Offered in both light and dark wood palettes, the interior layout is a clean, modern Euro style. Discreet storage compartments tuck everything away tidily. Sporting enormous volume with its catamaran hull design, this 54-footer cruises with up to 30 guests. Generous indoor and outdoor dining tables accommodate 10 - 12 guests. The saloon offers two entrances, with a large aft cockpit area and a convenient, fold-down bar. Onboard amenities include full size refrigeration, Corian countertops and leather trimmed hand-railing.

There is room to roam, safely and comfortably, on Aquila’s wide decks and walkaround flybridge. Accessorized with padded seating areas, thoughtfully-located gates, convenient grab rails and stainless steel handles, the boarding platform adjusts for high and low tide as well as fixed and floating docks. The multi-use aft steps are functional while providing seating space with back support. The extendable beach club houses a 14-foot RIB tender with a concealed dinghy davit crane and proprietary boom system.

Twin Cummins QSB 6.7 diesel engines are the optional inboard propulsion choice for the Aquila 54. Offering precision and power, Aquila cruises at 16 knots and tops out at 22 knots. The vessel’s nautical range is 1,300 miles cruising at six knots, contingent upon wind, current and loads.

Built on one of the most successful engine block designs in the world, this inline, 6-cylinder electronic QSB engine’s major enhancements make every piece of equipment work harder, smarter, quieter and longer. With Tier 3/Stage IIIA compliance, in-cylinder technology is based on the highly successful B Series engines featuring power ratings from 110-275 hp (82-205 kW). These engines combine proven, full-authority electronic controls with reliable performance driven through a perfectly matched turbocharger and a 24-valve cylinder head delivering industry-leading power density.

Quiet operation with an 80-percent reduction in noise at idle is one of many benefits from the common-rail fuel system with enhanced sociability virtually eliminating smoke and improves the whole boating experience.
