Cummins' Engine Business celebrates this year’s achievements as it looks ahead to do more in 2024

2023 has proven to be another exciting year for Cummins Inc. and its Engine Business Unit (EBU) team with the numerous milestones and product launches announced throughout the year. EBU is the core of the company’s five business segments which designs and manufactures state-of-the-art diesel, natural gas and other engines for on-highway and off-highway use.

  • X10 fuel agnostic engine launch: Kicking off the year, Cummins announced its new X10 engine launching in North America in 2026. Next in Cummins fuel-agnostic engine series, the X10 is uniquely positioned to serve both medium and heavy-duty applications, and plays an important role serving customer needs. Though the engine will first be available in Europe and North America, other regions will follow making the X10 available in additional off-highway markets as well. Learn more about the X10
  • Historic $1 billion investment in the EBU manufacturing network: In April, Cummins announced investments of more than $1 billion across its U.S. engine manufacturing network in Indiana, New York and North Carolina. The investment will provide upgrades to those facilities in support of the industry’s first fuel agnostic engine platforms that will run on low carbon fuels, including natural gas, diesel and, eventually, hydrogen, helping decarbonize the nation’s truck fleets. The added financial investment is reflective of Cummins’ dual path approach of advancing both engine-based and lower-emission solutions, an approach in support of Cummins’ stakeholders and Cummins’ impact on the planet.   • Telling the story of the Next Generation X15 in a three-part video series: Next in the Cummins fuel-agnostic 15-liter platform is the introduction of the advanced clean diesel Next Generation X15, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to evolving internal combustion technology. Featuring improved greenhouse gas efficiency and fuel economy, built upon Cummins’ uptime legacy, the X15 includes advanced telematics throughout the system to enable faster diagnostics which aid in planning and streamlining future maintenance and service needs.   • Predictive Service Insights of North America on-highway application offering: In late summer, Cummins released a new predictive model for the X15 heavy-duty engine, which provides customers with a Predictive Service Insight up to 90 days ahead of potential failures of their diesel particulate filter (DPF) differential pressure (DP) sensor.
