Glass Manufacturers Build Capacity in Pakistan with Cummins Standby Power

Two major Pakistani glass suppliers are adding capacity to their float glass lines. Float glass is widely used in construction and consumer products as windows, doors, furniture and mirrors.

In both cases, Cummins offered a quality, reliable product at a price that the competition couldn't beat. Cummins authorized distributor Orient Energy Systems Pvt Ltd (OES) provided the project engineering and sales support, with technical expertise from the engineering team.

Ghani Glass Limited is nearly doubling its production capacity at its Model Town Extension plant, from 300 tons/day to 550 tons/day. Five Cummins C1400D5 generator sets will provide 5 MW of standby power for the facility, which is being renovated and expanded. Ghani Glass makes float glass – widely used in construction and consumer products as windows, doors, furniture and mirrors – along with glass containers for pharmaceuticals, food and beverage.

Tariq Glass Industries Ltd. is building a new plant for float glass at its Lahore Sheikhupura Road, Sheikhupura location. Whereas glass tableware is the cornerstone of Tariq Glass, the company launched its float glass division five years ago. As a new customer, Tariq Glass noted the brand reputation of Cummins and strong customer service from the OES team, which included integration with an existing power system, to assure reliable power at the new float glass division for years down the road.

A 5 MW Cummins backup power system allows production to be Always On, such as this glass container line at Ghani Glass Limited.
