Happy Manufacturing Day – celebrating our frontline employees!
Today, we celebrate Manufacturing Day 2020!
Manufacturing Day is the industry’s largest annual opportunity to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of talent to pursue a career in the sector. Companies across the globe open their doors (even if it is virtually this year) to our youth, parents, teachers and communities to experience our world’s most iconic industry firsthand. The goal of the day is to educate participants on what constitutes current day manufacturing to ensure a talent pipeline for the ongoing prosperity of the industry.
This year marks the eighth anniversary of Manufacturing Day. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, historic unemployment and majority opportunity gaps, this might be the most important one yet. We want to thank our talented and dedicated manufacturing and supply chain employees for their tireless work and dedication in what can only be described as an extraordinary year.
Despite the pandemic, our manufacturing and supply chain employees have shown up to our plants every day to produce products that are critical to keeping our economy operational and people around the world healthy and safe. They are delivering excellence, investigating and implementing innovative solutions, creating efficiencies and are at the heart of some of the most impactful work being done in response to the pandemic.
Our manufacturing sites are safe places to work because of the outstanding efforts of our local teams in collaboration with our Health, Safety and Environment organization. They are helping implement and maintain critical safety guidelines and protocols – like wearing masks, creating unique ways to social distance inside our plants, and more – to keep themselves and their colleagues safe. Our manufacturing workforce is truly making a positive difference for our customers, our company and our communities across the globe, and we cannot thank them enough for their commitment to Cummins.
Due to COVID-19, all in-person events to celebrate Manufacturing Day have been canceled this year. However, it is more important than ever to continue reiterating the importance of the manufacturing industry on a local, national and global level and shine a spotlight on the rewarding, fulfilling and exciting careers it offers. Therefore, all sites have been encouraged to use virtual programming to organize events and activities throughout the month to show appreciation for their workforce and educate and inspire our next generation of manufacturing employees.
Please join us as we recognize our manufacturing workforce and their impact to Cummins. We hope you will all take a minute to reach out to a Manufacturing colleague to simply say, “thank you.” We are very proud of all our employees and the work they’re doing to power our world every day.
Happy Manufacturing Day!
