Cummins celebrates National STEM Day with new partnerships and employees engaging in communities across the U.S.

In the United States, Nov. 8 is recognized as National STEM Day, a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and innovation. At Cummins, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is the heart of our innovation strategy, driving advancements in clean energy, digital technologies, and sustainable solutions that power communities around the world.

“STEM sparks innovation, fuels progress and powers a brighter, more sustainable future,” said Jenny Bush, Vice President and President of Power Systems. “By investing in STEM education, we’re helping create opportunities that will shape the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators.”

Cummins marked the occasion by announcing two new partnerships through Cummins READY™, the company’s global education strategy dedicated to advancing high-quality, equitable STEM education for learners of all ages.

  • Association of Children’s Museums: Our partnership will support 20 children’s museums in designing and delivering STEM programs for early learners.
  • American Library Association: Our partnership will develop programming guides and STEM kits for a year-long initiative reaching 25 libraries nationwide.

Through partnerships with libraries and museums, Cummins is helping create inclusive, accessible spaces that spark curiosity and encourage learning through play. These new collaborations expand early childhood STEM opportunities, helping children build a strong foundation for future success. Together, these efforts will deliver hands-on STEM learning experiences to more than 6,000 young learners in communities across the U.S.

Additional highlights for National STEM Day include:

  • Over 100 INCO Academy learners joined Cummins leaders and employees for a discussion on the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainability.
  • In partnership with Math Corps, one of the most efficient and effective math tutoring programs in the nation, Cummins employees hosted a virtual STEM career panel for AmeriCorps tutors, sharing insights and pathways into STEM careers.
  • Employees brought interactive coding activities to students in Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, and Indianapolis, packed and designed STEM kits with Foster Love, and led hands-on math-based activities with students across the U.S. In total, more than 750 employees contributed over 1,700 hours to STEM-focused programming in the communities where Cummins employees live and work.
  • Cummins leaders and employees celebrated the launch of Design and Innovation Studios at four Indiana schools in partnership with Purdue University’s Indiana Manufacturing Competitiveness Center (IN-MaC), with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at Jefferson Middle School and Arlington Elementary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and at Forest Glen Elementary and Belzer Middle School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

National STEM Day underscores the impact of partnerships and volunteer efforts in advancing Cummins READY™ and its goal to help at least one million learners and workers get on a pathway to education and career success by 2030.
