Two configurations - one powerful, portable purpose: The Cummins QSK60 Series

The Cummins QSK60 Series

Our world runs on power. For almost any business or industry, its continued flow is critical. Lose it and you fall behind—fast.

And so with access and abundance paramount, power is nearly everywhere. But what happens when it's not? What happens in areas without sufficient infrastructure, or any infrastructure at all? How do businesses and industries function in those wild, gridless places where hidden stores of wealth and promise lie buried beneath an endless dearth of final energy?

The Cummins QSK60 Series is the answer.

Kelly Samons, Sales Director for Integrated Gas and Microgrids Business, says the Cummins QSK60 Series offers prime power solutions uniquely suited for these remote settings, especially "oil and gas applications, and mining, as well."

"In both oil and gas and mining, largely industrial sites that may be located in regions that don't have either a consistent utility or a utility supply that can provide as high of a demand as the site has, the QSK60 is well-suited to island mode operation, which is operating in absence of the utility. And it can handle significant load swings and maintain voltage and frequency within specs in that island mode configuration. This is a real important factor in the typical oil and gas or mine-site-type applications. It is important to have the ability to operate continuously."

"The transient performance capability," Samons continues, "that's an important decision-maker. Being able to maintain that steady frequency and voltage when large motor loads are coming off and online is critical."

But that's not all the QSK60 Series can bring to barren places. The expansive Cummins service network continues well beyond the road's end, ensuring proper operation even in the field.

"Combining [transient performance] with the ability to operate for long hours without having to shut down and having a high level of reliability, and providing support through the service Cummins network is also a staple to achieving that high level of uptime. So, it's uptime driven, it's performance driven—with respect to managing the loads—and then both of those are augmented by the network of service coverage that is consistent across all of the region."

In addition to the robust, fast-starting multi-turbo model for remote applications, the QSK60 Series also offers a single-turbo model that prioritizes fuel efficiency while delivering reliable, primary power wherever you need it.

The choice, Samons says, is yours.

"Cummins works with customers from a blank-sheet-of-paper stage of defining, well, one: what's their business and what are the operational things that they need to do to make their business work and secondly how does that relate to energy and power?"

After the initial assessment, Cummins takes a hands-on approach to ensuring your primary power solution is the right fit.

"Starting with a robust design to make sure that the solution that we're offering matches the needs of their business and their operational profile is key. Cummins works closely with the owners and their engineers on design details and performance priorities to make sure that the solution is set up for success from the get-go."

For a portable solution rugged and reliable enough to go it alone, connect with Cummins and the QSK60 Series: prime power that follows where final energy cannot.
