Cummins expands electric vehicle charging solutions capability

In May 2023, global power technology leader, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) announced their first partnership in the EV Charging solutions space. Today, Cummins is announcing the expansion of their partnerships in the EV charging solutions space to include written agreements with OpConnect, Autel, and The Mobility House, as well as an expanded range of offerings as part of our original partnership with Heliox (A Siemens Business). These agreements mark another significant step forward for Cummins in providing a wide range of electric vehicle charging solutions for diverse markets and customers.

The agreement brings charging equipment that is network enabled with Cummins Adapta™. These chargers are versatile; designed for public spaces, multifamily housing, and commercial fleets. They are rugged and compact, suitable for all weather conditions, available in single and three phase, and compatible with smart software solutions.

Autel

The agreement with Autel, a company focused on exploring the sustainable development of better people, vehicles, technology, and new energy, brings a broad range of level 2 EV chargers and level 3 EV chargers that now offer public point of sale systems while still meeting a wide variety of market segments and unique customer needs. The DC chargers range from 40 kW to 640 kW output power and come in a variety of installation configurations, including mobile, compact, all-in-one, and hi-power distributed systems. Each charger included in the Autel agreement is designed to be an efficient, intelligent solution that customers will find easy to implement and use. The inclusion of these products greatly expands the range of solutions Cummins can offer to EV customers, aligning with Cummins vision to offer customers the right solutions at the right time for them.

The Mobility House

The agreement with The Mobility House, an EV charging technology company focused on shaping the future of energy and mobility, brings a reseller agreement allowing Cummins to offer ChargePilot®, a smart charging and energy management system that charges electric vehicles in a reliable, easy, and affordable way, to market. The ChargePilot® platform, which manages charging for 2,500+ fleets, allows customers to manage multiple charging stations remotely via a web portal. Customers can distribute and manage available charging power, include charging stations by different manufacturers, track data with automatic cloud backups, and integrate with on-site distributed energy resources from Cummins for microgrid solutions, diesel or natural gas generators, battery energy storage systems, and solar power.

Heliox (A Siemens Business)

In Cummins’ original announcement, both a mobile 50 kW charger as well as a stationary 180 kW charger were announced. Today, Cummins is happy to share this partnership agreement now includes the expanded full Flex family of charging systems, which includes 180 kW and 360 kW power outputs continuing with both plug and pantograph dispensing options. In addition, the agreement also includes a new single charging platform that offers 30 kW, 60 kW, and 44 kW bi-directional that can be ordered in wall, pedestal, and mobile configurations pending model. Additionally, we are happy to announce that Heliox and Cummins Sales and Service have solidified to expand aftermarket support for both brands through warranty services activation of Cummins technicians to provide best-in-class services and up time across U.S. and Canada. This deeper aftermarket partnership will bring the ability for both Heliox and Cummins to support customer operations and maintenance of EV charging systems through either company.
