The Iguazú Jungle Project

Cummins Vessel Reference #861

Iguazú Jungle is a company providing tourist excursions on Argentina’s Iguazú River. In total, the fleet transports approximately 1,200 passengers daily up through the river’s powerful currents to the foot of the Iguazú Falls in the National Park.

The company web page describes the trip from Puerto Macuco, "At its dock, visitors shall board on the boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kilometres, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids. Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face. After that we'll navigate 6-km down river until Puerto Macuco from where, after walking up hill 150 meters we’ll ride the trucks 6-Km back to our Operative Center. Duration 2:15 Hours."

Their new fiberglass-hulled RIB-syle boat, Iguazú Jungle, will make six trips per day with up to 60 passengers per voyage. The boat is designed to handle the swift currents and rapids of the river. For power and safety it is powered by a pair of Cummins QSB6.7 engines delivering 480 bhp (353 kw) at 3000 rpm. The engines drive Alamarin AHJ340 water-jets to give the 12.6-meter long oat a maximum speed of 28 knots.

The Iguazú Jungle, with a draft of only 60 cm, will operate with a two-person crew while it carries up to 360 tourists per day on an exciting river tour.
