Cheoy Lee 107

Long-range, fuel miser explorer yacht powered by Twin QSL9’s

by Lisa Overing

With excellent fuel economy for long-range cruising coupled with dependability and endurance proven through thousands of hours of reliable commercial and trawler operation, the new Cheoy Lee 107 explorer yacht is powered by twin Cummins QSL9’s.

Expected for delivery in 2022, this long-range cruising yacht is a fuel-miser capable of voyaging anywhere in the world. The 107 is an expedition vessel built with a full displacement, steel hull with a round bilge, bulbous bow and aluminum superstructure.

Commercial-grade equipment and long-range fuel capabilities enable this bluewater vessel to voyage to the most remote, pristine destinations in the world. From Patagonia to Papua, the QSL9’s provide clean, quiet operation with virtually no startup smoke from the high-pressure common-rail fuel system.

Cruising the big blue and being environmentally friendly at the same time is important. Leaving a smaller carbon footprint is altruistic. From a practical standpoint, conserving fuel burn is paramount with the price of fuel increasing over the last year.

Estimated for cruising speeds up to 13 knots, pulling back on this explorer’s throttle provides even more impressive ranges at lower speeds for tremendous fuel economy. A powerful engine always promotes better fuel consumption at moderate speeds. Of course, at top speed the engines will consume more, leaving the captain in control.

Backed by the support of the Cummins global service network, no destination is too far off the beaten path. With a fuel capacity of 14,800 USG, this 107 explorer is poised to handle oceans as well as extreme latitudes.

From the beauty of the Pacific Northwest Inside Passage to exotic destinations in Central and South America, this explorer is capable of bluewater voyages without refueling, the litmus test for a true, long-distance cruiser.

The aft house design with a central corridor from bow to stern allows crew movement with minimal interruption to the owner and guests. With four decks and all-weather cruising, the Cheoy Lee 107 explorer yacht enables every voyage with fuel economy and impressive cruising ranges around the globe.
