Located on Valentia Island, in County Kerry, near the extreme southwest corner of Ireland, Murphy Marine, builds boats designed and proven on the extrema Atlantic waters. The well-known yard builds a range of boats from 24 to 44 feet. While the hull designs are proven and set, the upper portions of the vessel include a variety of different configurations.
The Cygnus Cyclone 30 with its comfortable cabin and large walk around working deck has proven popular with local and international fishermen. With a fine bow incorporating a lift strake that extends aft the boat combines speed with sea keeping abilities. In the body of the hull the lift strake incorporates the now famous over developed chines which provide a steadier working platform for fishermen hauling gear in the swells.
Recently, the yard delivered one of their Cyclone 30’s (9.1 by 3.35-meter) models to a French fisherman Alan Percelay. The vessel, named Kornog, was delivered on November 24, 2020 and made the trip to her home port shortly after.

Murphy Marine offers a bespoke fit out service to complement the wide range of well proven hulls available. The boat for Mr. Percelay has been designed and built in conjunction with the owner as a Bespoke line fishing boat with an Aft pilot house which allows quick access to the hand tiller control and the aft gunwale mounted longline hauler. The Vessel is fitted with a Raised hatch just forward of the wheelhouse which gives access to the Insulated fish hold. The vessel has some nice design features such as trim tabs integrated in under the hull.
A single Cummins QSC8.3 diesel delivers 500 hp at 1800 RPM to a 24 by 25.5-inch propeller mounted on a 50 m/m Duplex shaft via a Twin Disc MG 5065A with a 1.5:1 reduction gear. This gives the boat a 26-knot top speed and a comfortable 18-knot cruising speed. A power take-off from the main engine provides the hydraulic power for a long line hauler and a pot hauler on deck. The Cummins engine was supplied by South Shore Marine & Diesel.
Yard owner, Fionan Murphy, is proud of his skilled and specialized work force. He and his crew will build any of their models for single or twin-screw configurations. Drives can be propeller or water jet.
