Norway Diesel-Electric Battery Powered Ferry

With a rugged coastline and many fjords to cross, Norway has become a world leader in progressive ferry design. The Basto Series of RO-RO ferries is powered by four Cummins QSK50 IMO Tier III diesel-powered generator sets, two in each end with each producing 1290 kWM.

Washington State Ferry

Sally Fox is a 104 by 32-foot catamaran that will carry 250 passengers on the Vashon Island to Seattle route. The monster vessel is powered by a pair of Cummins QSK50-M Tier 3 main engines, each delivering 1800 HP at 1900 RPM to fixed pitch propellers, giving the ferry a 28-knot service speed.
