Watts in the Woods: How you can become “Squatch-Approved”

Silence speaks volumes

Hey there, friends of the forest and fellow seekers of peace and power. Watts, here, bringing you more big energy with a low profile.

One of my best tricks to staying hidden has been the ultra-quiet Onan QG 7000i DF. I’ve already told you how much I love this generator, but one feature deserves a second look, or in this case, a second listen (you’ll have to listen closely).

The QG 7000i DF is so quiet you can run your AC, coffee maker and smoothie blender all at once without scaring away even the shyest of forest critters. Living in nature – and hiding in plain sight – has taught me to treasure silence. It’s a big deal when serene sunrises, peaceful walks and blogging with the company of forest friends are what keep you Squatch’ing. Plus, if you yell at nature, it usually yells back.

Silence is like currency here in the wild. It’s a precious resource, and it’s no wonder more humans are escaping their cities and buying RVs to acquire a little Squatch-style serenity of their own. And as for us, long-term residents of the forest … we feel that the more, the merrier, as long as you don’t bring the city noise with you. We much prefer birdsongs to taxi horns out here. I like to say that if you can’t hear the wind through the trees, then your generator is too loud … or it’s not a windy day.

You don’t need to worry, though, if you’re using the QG 7000i DF, we’ll welcome you to the party. It keeps you within the 60 decibels level the National Park Service mandates, but that’s short-selling it. The variable oscillation vibration reduction technology is just one of several cool pieces of tech that keep this generator running quietly while keeping my AC as cool as my cousin, the Yeti.

It's the best way for you to enjoy my off-the-grid lifestyle without disrupting the forest or giving up the comforts of home when RV’ing. Need further evidence that this generator is really quiet? I only lost my focus once while writing this entire blog post, and that was because I entered a staring contest with a squirrel (I’m over 8 feet tall, so he lost – badly).
