Celebrating Women's History Month - Positively Impacting Our Community
By Whitney Wilber, Global Employer Brand Marketing Communication Specialist
Women’s History Month is a time for recognizing the central role of women in US history, for Cummins, it is also about highlighting the significance of diversity & inclusion. In honor of Women’s History Month, we’ve invited employees to share their personal stories, helping others to understand what this month represents, as well as the importance of an inclusive workplace year round.
Employee Highlight: Citlalli Rincon Zuniga, HMLD Off Highway Customer Engineering RPS – Senior Engineer
Years at Cummins: 4 years
“Women’s History Month is a time to remember and celebrate women’s contribution to society. Throughout history women have proven not only to be vital members of our families, but also active contributors to the workforce. Although women have come a long way to reach equality with their male counterparts, we must keep working towards a better society where opportunities are the same for all.”
Understanding the value of diversity inside Cummins…
“Inclusion gives us a competitive advantage as it allows us to use our diverse background, knowledge, and experiences to develop products that better solve our customers’ specific needs.”
Feeling pride working within an inclusive environment…
“Cummins promotes activities that enhance the development of females in the workforce. One excellent example is the Mentoring Circles Program organized by the Women Affinity Group (WAG). At this mentoring program I have been able to share my experiences and also learn from other women who went through similar challenges as they advanced in their professional careers.”
Living your values at Cummins…
“I feel very proud to share many of the same values as Cummins. One of the values that I share with Cummins is to positively impact our community. One way I like to help in this effort is by supporting organizations that work against domestic violence such as Turning Point. I have volunteered at Turning Point supporting Christmas gift collection, donation sorting, and document translation. Cummins corporate-sponsored Latino Affinity Group (GOAL) joined me in the effort to collect Christmas gifts for Hispanic families.”
