By Olivia Scott: Manager, Cummins Powers Women
International Day of the Girl, observed annually on October 11, honors girls’ rights and achievements, while raising awareness to the gender inequalities and challenges they face around the world. Cummins marked the day through its global gender equity strategic initiative, Cummins Powers Women, reinforcing its commitment to the advancement of women and girls everywhere.
This year, more than 400 employees embraced the theme “Generation Future: Impact Begins Now” and took action to accelerate gender equity in their communities. Through these efforts, employees reaffirmed the importance of empowering the next generation of women and girls – recognizing that their leadership, innovation, and opportunities will shape a brighter future for our communities and the world.
Highlights include:
- Employees across Asia Pacific, Hispanic America and Europe joined nonprofit partners in webinars and discussions highlighting local gender equity initiatives and sharing their vision for the future.
- Nearly 20 educational workshops and group events were held, featuring activities such as packing hygiene kits, discussions on period poverty and gender stereotypes, organizing book drives, writing letters of encouragement, STEM projects, and career development sessions.
- Introduced a new global innovation challenge, the Cummins World Changer Wonder Cup, which empowers girls to lead diverse teams in developing groundbreaking solutions for gender equality. Nearly 15 teams from Africa Middle East, Brazil and India participated, representing the next generation of innovators creating lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
As Cummins powers transformative change around the world, we remain committed to building a future where women and girls can lead and succeed.
